The Internet is the ‘expressway’ of our information highway but it has also become a thoroughfare of false doctrine for those who are blinded by Satan. Advancements in information technology have made it possible for anyone to post their views and beliefs for the world to read.
For ‘baby’ Christians – taking their ‘first steps’ as they learn to walk with the Lord – this can be a dangerous and confusing avenue when there is no discernment.
“For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” (Matthew 24:24)
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” (I John 4:1)
“Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.” (Hebrews 13:9)
False doctrine is being preached on television.
“Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” (Matthew 7:15)
Remember the Bakker’s of PTL? Recently the granddaughter of Paul and Jan Crouch – whom they appointed as TBN’s financial manager – blew the whistle for ‘misapropriation of funds’ from the ministry. Did you know the Crouch’s have matching twin mansions at Newport Beach, California? What a marked contrast with Billy Graham who drove the same car and lived in the same house for many years.
False doctrine is being preached from the pulpit.
“I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive. but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect before God.” (Revelation 3: 1,2)
There are ‘churches’ and ‘pastors’ utilizing the Internet AND television to line their own pockets,
Two major spiritual challenges are facing us today. Churches are being swayed by ideas in opposition to God’s Word and the spreading influence of Islamic ideology. Combine these with a little computer savvy – embellished with elaborate graphics – and you have another website spewing false doctrine on the Internet.
“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.” (II Timothy 4: 2-4)
